MOBILE X-CHANGER NEW The Sharkoon 2.5" Mobile X-Changer is delivered together with a 3.5" docking station and 5.25" mounting frame. These accessories allow the sleek housing to be used as either a handy external 2.5" drive or - similar to a disk - as a flexible, removable data medium for transporting data, expanding memory capacity, synchronizing data between a notebook and PC or for the occasional hard drive backup. The docking station is similar to a floppy drive in its use and function, which spares users the time-consuming inconvenience of dealing with an assortment of cables. The station can be installed either directly into an open 3.5" slot or into a 5.25" slot using the included mounting frame. Once in place, the Mobile X-Changer is simply inserted into the station and immediately recognized by the operating system as an external hard drive. The X-Changer can then be removed just as easily by simple pushing on the ejection button. The Mobile X-Changer's housing consists of high-grade aluminum and the bezels and mounting frame of black plastic. The docking station is connected internally to the mainboard using an S-ATA interface and also requires a connection to the power supply. Compared to a USB connection, the S-ATA connection allows a data transfer rate at least 25% faster. The S-ATA interface is compatible with S-ATA I as well as S-ATA II. Of course, the X-Changer can also be used without the docking station simply as a standard external hard drive housing. In this case, the X-Changer is plugged into the PC using either the S-ATA or USB 2.0 interface.
