Players and recorders
Players are mainly used for watching movies, listening to music and viewing photos. The most advanced players can even record your favourite shows or movies directly from your TV to the integrated hard drive!
Players are divided according to several criteria. The main division is into classic DVD players, recorders and Blue-Ray players. A classic DVD player can read all DVD and CD media. Recorders can read DVD and CD media in the same way as classic players, except that they can also write directly to these discs (or to an integrated hard drive). The Blue-Ray players are the most popular, where the main advantage is the support of so-called Blue-Ray discs. The difference between CD, DVD and Blue-Ray discs is mainly in their capacity. The capacity of CD discs is around 700MB, DVD media around 4.7GB (1GB=1024MB), but the capacity of single-layer Blue-Ray discs is up to 25GB, double-layer up to 50GB and double-sided double-layer up to a whopping 80GB, which is fully sufficient for movies in FULL HD resolution!. Classic DVD players can also include an integrated LCD screen, which will serve you very well on the go!
Manufacturers equip DVD players, recorders and Blue-ray players with the latest technologies, such as full support for playing YouTube videos through your WiFi router, either via WiFi technology or an RJ-45 (LAN) port. Select models support reception of FM radio with full RDS support. An important feature is the support of playback not only of DivX format, i.e. classic movies, mostly with .avi, .mpeg extensions up to about 1GB in size. DVD player, recorder, Blue-Ray player you can connect to your TV via component, composite inputs or HDMI interface. Most models also feature a USB interface, which you can use to view photos or play movies from your flash memory.
