How to build Boffin?

The base of each Boffin kit is a clear plastic board on which the individual parts snap into place. By snap-on, we mean literally, because the contacts are designed with snap-ins, so that the wires and all the parts can be connected and disassembled in a flash. If the components are stacked on top of each other, the manual indicates which "floor" they are on.
After assembling all the projects (circuits) according to the instructions in the manual, you may get the urge to experiment on your own. Follow the instructions in the manual. Each circuit contains an electrical source (battery) and a resistor (lamp, motor, integrated circuit, etc.) that are interconnected in both directions. Be careful to avoid "short circuits" which could damage individual components and/or drain the batteries quickly.

Projects

The number of projects that can be built with the Boffin kit is impressive. There are hundreds and hundreds of projects (in the Boffin 750 kit, that's right, 750 projects described and explained) that are either listed in the manual or you can make them up. Someone will be interested in radios (AM, FM), someone in lie or motion detectors, another in solar panel projects.
The highlight is connecting an MP3 player to the Boffin kit or, conversely, connecting the Boffin to a computer. Each experiment or project demonstrates the function of the components or circuitry. Try different build variations and you'll find that you can play with Boffin for months and never get tired of it.

Components

The Boffin kits contain parts, fitted with contacts, for building a variety of electrical and electronic projects. Each component has its own function: there are switches, light sources, batteries, wires with contacts of different lengths, etc. The Boffin kits contain dozens of different components, which are identified by letter (sometimes even number), distinguished by colour and shown in detail in the manual.
Some of the parts are among the more attractive ones like the LED display, microphone, speaker, propeller, while others are even more ordinary like switch, bulb, wires. The basis of everything is a large clear plastic pad, which is used for the correct placement of components. There are evenly spaced spots on it where the different parts are inserted. For better orientation, there are rows on the pad, marked with the letters A-G, and columns, marked with the numbers 1-10.

Contents of the package

Boffin kits contain dozens of different parts that can be freely combined within Boffin products (not Boffin Junior). To make it easier to navigate through the projects and manuals, the parts are distinguished from each other by colour and described by a code (for example S2).

More information

Why is Boffin so attractive? It's very quick to plug in individual projects, you don't have to wait long for the results, and it doesn't require much patience to build. Every example you build works, no need to look for wiring errors. Even a missing part can be found very quickly by comparing the picture with the assembled model. So you don't need any technical knowledge to assemble it. The sample assemblies are attractive, who wouldn't want to build a lie detector or a radio. The kits contain a large number of wiring examples, you really won't get bored, you can assemble, assemble and assemble...
