Antivirus software

Antivirus software (abbreviated as antiviruses) is a computer program that is used to identify, remove and eliminate computer viruses and other malware. Success depends on the capabilities of the antivirus program and the currency of the computer virus database. A current virus database is nowadays downloaded automatically, at various time intervals, and mostly from the Internet.

Antivirus programs operate on a virus database platform. The checking of files occurs when the computer's operating system creates, opens, closes or sends/receives them via email. It is also possible to schedule a system-wide check, for a specific time or on a regular basis.

The main vector of viruses is considered to be the computer network - the Internet. Computer viruses are small software programs designed to spread from one computer to another and interfere with the proper functioning of the computer. A virus can corrupt the data on your computer, use your email application to spread itself to other computers, or in the worst case, even delete all the data on your hard drive. Viruses are most easily spread in email or instant message attachments. Therefore, it is important to remember not to open email attachments unless you know the sender or are expecting the email. Viruses can be hidden in files as attachments in the form of funny pictures, greeting cards or audio files and video files. They are also spread by downloading from the internet. They can be disguised in illegal software and other files or programs that you can download anywhere on the Internet.
